Description

A detail from the rugged terrain of the Teide area. Most of the area in the south of Tenerife is made of lava and rocks, and what exists of agricultural soil was imported by truck from the north of the island. Anyway, the islanders make perfums from the wild flowers which naturally grow on the lava beds. I took a shot of this rocky ground because it gave me the idea of a natural Japanese Karesansui garden. Hallucinatory delusion or reality? Thanks for your kind comments.

Well seen...and a question worth asking. It has a few of the essential elements...but best of all you got me googling Japanese Karesansui garden...fascinating. Excuse me, I am on my way to order a truckload of sand for the backyard:)

It does have a look of a Japanese garden and I especially like your POV that caught all those shadows. Very nice. Dana

It's amazing how plants have managed to acclimate to this rather harsh environment. Not only do they live here, they thrive! I'm going to Google Japanese Karesansui gardens as well!

Looks beautiful, I always thought that the mini stones around the Teide look like 'kitty litter' - it's not easy to climp up there, one step before, 3 steps back, a.s.o. - Lol!

It certainly shows off the contrast between the harshness of the rocks and the soft and gentle flowers! Nice shot!

The ground is not raked but otherwise not a bad comparison. The green plants make a wonderful counterpoint to the rather arid foreground.

They do look artificially placed, but I'm sure they are not. Interesting!
