Description
Taken July 2011, from a point on the coast road north of Cushendun in the Glens of Antrim, Northern Ireland. I had to brace myself against gusting high winds to take this shot. The light was about to go, even although it was only about 1630 hours or so. Rain was approaching and the sheep were searching for pasture near the gorse / whin bushes. I was the only one willing to get out of the car.
The pointed hill is one of the many extinct volcanoes in this geologically interesting areas of Ireland. Standing stones, ruined castles, ruined iron age forts, faery glens, caves, treacherous cliffs and flint workings just inches under the soil made this area a magical adventure playground for my family and my cousins, over 50 years ago.
It is better with the sun out, but in the Glyns / Glens, that seems to be usually at dawn and sunset, when it gets below the clouds ... ;O) Please, enjoy the beauty of this ancient area. The coastal road is a wee bit scary, due to narrow, winding dog legs, and is used for car rallying by braver souls. The views are magnificent, if you can find a driver willing to stop, for fear of falling over the cliffs pushed by the persistent high winds ... ;o)
Goodnight, and God bless all, John.

absolutely the place where the earth meets the sky. Thank you for sharing these with us - it looks to be about as wet in Ireland as it must be in Scotland. A very rich deep green.
