Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

Ah, the famous Saturnian view, with Kate. I remember that day and I remember this photo. I think I was taking a few shots of bricks that phase shifted from a synagogue to a Pentecostal Romanian church with really expensive cars in the parking lot. I love the window-distortion and the way it makes the back of your apartment building look a bit like something fit for a Tim Burton film (complete with a Danny Elfman soundtrack.) And, by that logic, I can easily imagine Helena Bonham-Carter portraying a character living on the second floor. You captured the crispness of that day perfectly, and the colors are nicely amazing...the golden hues recall Saturn in a sense, though it's the planet's automotive cousin that lends its name to this shot. Marvelous. I like this quite a bit.

Great shot. It reminds me of looking at the International Space Station from the shuttle (not that I have ever done that!). I think I've eaten there. They do Strawberry Bread from memory!

That is one of the pleasures of photography is finding new stuff later, in my case recently, many many years later as I have been photographing old negatives that were too large for my film scanner. I also like finding stuff in the photos of others that they had never seen! I love your Saturn View! I think Kate should be seen in a full frame; she looks pretty!

I like the profusion of details and the distortions in the windshield. Funny how so many "ordinary" things make up a creative image. Well done.

I love reflection shots and this is wonderful! I first was struck by the strong reflections of the building and the great POV of Kate. Then I spent some time figuring out the bits that I could figure and acknowledging the bits that I had no idea what were. I like the way the reflections run into the items inside the car in weird and wonderful ways. Excellent capture!

Of coarse, the two superimposed and completely different perspectives create a surreal and unearthly feel as one tries to adjust ones thinking to bring in two overlapped worlds. And the colour of your apartment building neatly fits with the general hue of the planet Saturn as well. Cool!
