beautiful animal, shot... but at the same time sad, the eye is not full of life and in the background you see man's presence... sometimes I get in moods to where I dislike what man has done and I end up dislikeing myself over it.

The sharpness of detail is amazing. Zebra stripes always blow me away because they are so delineated, they look painted on, you know what I mean? A marvelous capture of his eye .. and I tend to agree with Mikeerson to a degree .. yet if we don't have these creatures in a zoo, soon they will be lost to all humanity. So I dunno .. it's sad they that in order for a species to survive at all, they have to be in captivity somewhere, otherwise they get hunted down to the last one.

Hi Barb, I was delighted to hear from you upon your return after the hiatus. The closeup of this beautiful Zebra is simply mesmerizing. I grew up watching herds of these spectacular creatures on the African savanna. I have always found their coloration fascinating; the stripped patterns are like fingerprints writ large. No two animals are alike. I particularly like the way the eye detail in your image is so perfectly balanced in contrast to the great resolution on the stripes. Equidae Eye indeed.
