Description

Last week the US Surfing Open began here in Huntington Beach. It's a VERY big deal in the surfing world. Unfortunately, the surf was terrible, but that didn't stop a LOT of people from coming down to check out the action. Today was the last day; I heard there were over a 100,000 people there. As much as I love the surfers and getting those fun fotos, I'm not sorry I missed it. I doubt I could've gotten a single decent foto with all those people around. Anyway, --this foto is the bike parking area under the pier. I'm sure that today there were a WHOLE lot more there!! (Another reason I didn't go--I was in a car, driving 8 hours from a trip to Nevada that turned into one of those funky family dramas--I am SO glad to be home!! lol)

A singularly uncolorful bunch although the yellow one at bottom right gives me some hope. And did you catch the number to its left with the ape hangers? Very cool image. Good idea to avoid the crowds as much as possible.

I'm just waiting for the next shot when they all come for their bikes at once! Hope your next trip to Nevada goes a bit better!

I have no clue why, but I suddenly have the urge to ride a bike! Must be a subliminal thing. What a shot! What shapes and colors. It all looks like a jumble at first and then you see this order emerge out of it all. Nice! Really well seen! Oh, and family drama! Yeah, people get gray hair because of that stuff! Heck, I once saw it make a guy start gnawing his own head off in an attempt to escape. It wasn't pretty.

Yes, definitely got the 79 Queen song going on up there in Brain-pan Radio...bicycle racers are coming your way/so forget all your duties/oh yeah/CHORUS/(guitar part), now it's morphing into "Fat Bottom Girls"... Great shot! Love the bird's eye view of all the chaos of wheels and different colored bodies. When I squint it vaguely resembles some kind of odd pasta. Mechanical Spaghetti-Os perhaps? Wonderful shot!
