Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

Ah, yes...the Matrix trilogy: two good films...and a fist fight! And remember, when your mind is clear and you are focused, you will see that it is you that bends. Ah...I loved that little Buddha boy with the slight lisp...he was as intriguing as The Oracle herself, and yeah...in quoting the Oracle: "I just love candy! Don't you?" Yeah...I think it's time to see that again...and hey, Reloaded is the one with the Monica Belucci joke: her character talking to Neo right in front of a screen showing some schlock vampire movie...as a reference to her first English language film: Bram Stoker's Dracula: in which she appeared in as one of Dracula's brides...she's the one who got a nice little nibble on Jonathan Harker, played--you guessed it--by Keanu Reeves. What does this have to do with this picture? Absolutely... ...Nothing! That's the way my mind works. And speaking of Monica Belucci...she was pretty hot (for a woman) in that dress that made her look like a rubber flower. And as for this picture; it rocks...it kinda reminds me of Separate But Equal in that stark and provocative way.

I have never seen either movie! But I will now. 'Inception' was my worst film OF ALL TIME....so it's not looking promising eh!

very interesting combination your photo...the purity of the white cup...the dingy texture of the sink and the cold shinyness of the blade with the shawdows produced by the water droplets. i really like it...awesome work...and i loved the matrix. i definitely prefer sci fi/horror genre... chills and thrills

Well. This makes me think of a cup with a knife in it. I am SO literal! I don't like movies in general, and haven't seen any of the ones mentioned in your writeup or in any of the following comments. I'm sure I've missed something important. When Star Trek was still turning out new episodes, people would ask me if I'd seen a movie or a television show. I would reply, "If it wasn't on Star Trek, I didn't see it." Tomato soup heated in the microwave along with something sliced? Perhaps some cheese, or an apple. A cup of coffee and toast, buttered with a steak knife because a butter knife was unavailable? This makes me think of reasons for these two items, and only these two items, to be in a sink together. FAR too literal.

I liked both movies when they first came out, but they couldn't have been too good if I never saw them again after LOL Great shot and I remembered the title right away- thanks for sharing! :)

Like Tara I didn't see any of those films but I thoroughly enjoyed the read and the photo!

It is totally obvious to me that Corey had a cup of water but found it necessary to cut it up into sipping-sized pieces, and now it is all gone!

Well, I think you nailed the Matrix series perfectly for me. But you forgot about the 'insane' Agent Smith, who I think made the whole series really worth watching. I mean, Trinity was nice to look at but I'm married. Smith was a rip roaring riot to behold as a logical programme gone blue screen due to the concept of smell. "Let me be completely honest with you Morphious...... I HATE THIS PLACE!"

I don't like the sci-fic films! Cool capture here Corey :)

Well, I'm in the "didn't see the movie" crowd, so if there's a connection between them and this shot, I'm way out in left field. Still, it's a shot that makes you look at it and try to figure it out. Kinda like those modern art pieces. Ok, now I'm really not making any sense! lol Cuz I know it's a knife and a mug, whereas with modern art you have no clue. Or I don't. Anyway, cool shot!
