Description

Happy Birthday Wayne and bring back lots of photo from your trip into the Canadian Rockies. Glen Canyon Dam generates electricity, by discharging water, from Lake Powell through turbine generators built into and under the dam. There are five 165 Megawatt and three 157 Megawatt generators creating 4.5 billion Kilowatt hours of electricity each year. The water (now the Colorado River) then travels through Marble Canyon, on its way to the Grand Canyon. Some info from Wikipedia. 1996 photo scanned. Zoom works well here. Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

I have a divided mind about Glen Canyon Dam... I hate what it did to the wild waters, but it does support so many. Your beautiful shot shows what is now and what must have been before the dam. Stunning view.

Thank you so much for the kind dedication Dana; you are a true friend! And thanks to all the others as well for their good wishes! And, of course a Happy Birthday to yourself as well! You look like you are beginning your fifties now, right? I love the photo and I am assuming it is a view from the Glen Canyon Dam itself, right? The perspective looks as though it might have been taken from the center of the dam. If Mars ever had liquid water this might be how it looked there as well. TY!
