Description

This is a Harlequin Macaw. I have photographed this beauty at the Umgeni Bird Park near Durban this past holiday. It reminded me of the recent macaw uploads Denise did and hence the dedi! He (she) was a real clown and entertained us for a while. He was in the shade and an overcast day... so light was a bit of a challenge! I have hit the ground sprinting at work and haven't had much time to comment. I do look at the galleries though and your images are great! Thank you for popping in and visiting my gallery. Oh, what a beautiful bird! Some research has revealed that sexing these birds is so difficult that the only way to tell for sure is genetic analysis; I'm guessing that the birds themselves can tell, since they're not extinct. Capturing their colours is more of a challenge than one might think, and you did wonderfully here. Great work!
