Thank you for peeking in on and sharing impressions of this odd addition to my collection! Strange it is .. but as much of an authentic portrayal as I am ever likely to produce. Maddy: "... yet it looks also dangerous and dark to me as well ..." And sometimes that is how she comes across. & The creative process is always dangerous, isn't it!? We never can know just where our source material will come from or what it will reveal to or about our self. Then, of course, we face the risks of how our final creation will be or will not be received by our family, friends and ultimate audience. As for darkness .. it is here where Nature, the master artist, does all her best work. Seeds germinate beneath the soil .. babies within the womb and the dawn is born from within the night. To create well we need to face our fears and advance. There is nothing within the shadows that is absent within the light. Froggy: "... looks more like a demon to me though ..." You wouldn't think so if you knew her. ;-) So much about darkness is often mis-interpreted. Perhaps it's the baggage of ancestral culture. Inspiration comes to us all in a unique manner and form. Demons also come with baggage that has mishapen our perceptions since the Judeo-Christian era. A daimôn or as the Greeks knew them: δαίμων .. was always involved in the ancient creative process. All artistic expression was considered by the Greeks to flow from the gods. A poet, for instance, was understood as a mere instrument for the voice of a god or goddess. The root of the word inspire meant to breathe in. All ideas were perceived as coming from an external source. A daemon was merely a go-between for the gods and humanity. In truth, not unlike the Holy Ghost of Christianity which served as a unifying bridge between the Father and the Son. There's much more to all this .. but here is little room and little need to elaborate. More can be understood, perhaps, of my own perspective on these themes through the image below which was posted two years ago. With warmth, Terry Don't Be Afraid of the Shadows

I could stare at this portrait in hours, Terry... Your most powerful upload up to date, in my opinion... You have captured a Muse's essence - she's here to give us the inspiration, not for letting us admire her pretty face... Magnificent effort on capturing the intangible! Vashek

Very fascinating image! And I know the feeling; my own muse can be quite elusive as well. :)

A wonderful portrayal of how elusive your muse is. It is superbly done and reflects how mine comes and goes too.
