Description
...A Maersk container ships passes by downtown Seattle enroute to offload at the Port of Seattle. It is longer than the tallest building in Seattle.
...the tallest building in Seattle is the 76 story 932 feet (284.2 meters) Columbia Center (black building on right).
...the Maersk container ship in the foreground is 958 feet (292 meters) in length and 105 feet (32 meters) in width...the largest ship that will fit through the Panama Canal.
P.S. And yes, there are larger container ships afloat...the Emma and Edith Maersk are each 1303 feet (397 meters) in length and 138 feet (42 meters) wide.
P.S.S. For Helle (helanker), these huge Maersk container ships all fly the Danish flag.

I saw one of these coming into the Savannah River--it just seemed to go on forever--I had no idea how really huge they were till you put them into this perspective--wow!! Great shot!

Ah, one of the giant Maersk Line container ships. Have seen such on occasion here in southern Sweden. Nice photo - the angle to the ship and inclusion of the buildings is great for illustrating the sizes. What gives me chills with such huge vessels is what if one is lost? The enormous loss of cargo is scarcely comprehensible! However, I doubt if all the containers are full to the brim. Good job! :-)
