Description

The Teor Lupis: A large canine predator favored by the Boor. Average Height: 45-50 inches at the shoulder. Average Weight: 290-350 pounds. The Teor Lupis can reach up to 8 feet tall when standing on his hind legs. It is one of the tallest canine breeds in the galaxy, surpassing the size of a small pack animal. Its has a long skeletal head that is not too broad, and has upper and lower rows of large pointed teeth that are capable of severing a limb in one bite. The small ears are carried back against the head when the canine is relaxed and part way pricked when it is excited. The neck is long, strong and well arched. The chest is wide and deep. It has a short curved tail. The legs are long and strong. The feet are round, with well arched and clawed toes. It is capable of bursts of speed of between 35-40 MPH. Its coat is wiry and rough to the touch on the head, on the upper neck and upper body its skin is thick and calcified, similar to the scaled skin of the now extinct Rhino of northern Africa on Terra. Providing extremely good protection from even some small caliber projectile weapons. Coat colors include gray, brindle, red, black, or fawn, with gray being the most common. They are unconditionally loyal to their owner and family. The Teor Lupis's size, tough skin, razor sharp teeth and aggressive nature, though making this creature incredibly formidable in its own right, is not what gives this animal its class 4 restricted status... or its infamous nickname, "Terror Wolf". A Teor Lupis hunting pack is one of the most lethal, if not THE most lethal of predatory animals with-in our galaxy. I am sure that almost everybody has seen the holo-programs showing hunting packs of wild animals; Lions Tigers and even the savage Xutha hunting prey... The Terror Wolves put them all to shame. The thick chitinous-like scales on the skin of the upper and lower neck, and spine can vibrate, allowing the Toer Wolves to manipulate sound waves in multiple ways. The Terror Wolf has the ability to vibrate their skin to create a sound wave that 'cancels' the sound the Lupis makes while hunting. This is extremely effective as the unsuspecting prey does not have any audio cues warning of the packs approach, and is used when hunting on plains or flat-lands. The Teor Lupis ability extends to the use of subsonic audio growls in combination with the vibrations of their scales to produce low frequency noise with-in the 7-19Hz. This infrasonic attack induces the target to experience any number of side effects; heightened states of dread and panic, nausea, bleeding from the ears and nose, uncontrolled terror and the urge to defecate are among the various effects. Teor Wolves are also able to intentionally alter this sound wave along the subsonic range based on the response of their prey. Zeroing in on the frequency that is most effective against that creature or being. These low frequency vibrations are powerful enough to resonate with the average humanoid eyeball, causing "smeared" vision. This is a phenomenon where the eye vibrates just enough to register something static -- say, the frame of your glasses or a speck of dust -- as large, moving shapes, or ghost-like apparitions which add to the artificially induced terror. An I-think-something-wants-to-devour-my-soul feeling of terror that is absolutely pervasive, even to the point of causing Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.

Here is the continued info on the Terror Wolves! The Teor Wolf uses its abilities with extreme effectiveness. They have several hunting strategies. One being silent running where the males and female run alongside the target using their ability to mask their sounds to throw the target off balance, making them easier to kill. But the worst is the organized hunt when there is sufficient cover... forest glens, bushes, hills or tall grass. The female and young of the pack use the terror they induce to 'herd' the intended targets in a particular direction. Using subsonics they direct the prey to the awaiting males, who use their ability to eliminate noise they make to cover their flanking or forward approach, to the complete surprise and dismay of the intended prey. And if the creature dies from an infrasonic terror overload so much the better, as the pack has now gained a meal without jeopardizing their own health, or lives. The subsonics they use interferes with both sonar and radar, causing an individual to appear as a large indistinct blob, and any size group distorts the acuracy of readings. Their thick wiry hide and scaliness also reduce and break up the animals heat signature, making them very hard to track in this fashion also. Amazingly the Lupis is an omnivore, gaining some much needed nutrition by eating the half digested vegetation found with in the stomachs of their prey. Specifically the Vorg, a massive Herbivore, a Bison-like creature native to the plains of Chosa. And the Chlob, a 1000Lbs plus ominvourous Hog-like creature, native to the Chosan forest. The only defense, or salvation (As is said in some circles) against this creature Is the simple fact that they are practically nocturnal and are virtually blind in daylight. Bright light cause the Lupis intense pain and is mostly avoided. On the rare occasion they must venture out into the day a second eyelid slides over the Lupis eye reducing vision close to 80-90%. During this period of time the Lupis uses their sonar almost exclusively due to their limited sight. The Boor themselves share some a percentage of DNA with the Lupis, so they are themselves immune to the infrasonic effects of the Wolves. They report it to be nothing but normal canine chatter to them; growling yelping, and howls. It has been theorized that this is why, and how they have been able to domesticate these intensely dangerous predators. Domesticated Teor Wolves are trained in various additional strategies and techniques for war and hunting, making them that much more lethal. Due to this the Teor Lupis are classified as a level 4 Exotic Creature. Ownership is illegal for individuals within the Galactic League. Export to other worlds is limited to planets that have either small or no populations of humanoids. Any zoological agency or business entity must apply for an Exotic handlers license, and must have Boor handlers on staff at all times. Any Teor Lupis that has escaped captivity is to be immediately recaptured. And any Teor Lupis that has killed any intelligent being is to be terminated upon recapture.

Extremely scary creatures and fantastically detailed description - love the fact that they are omnivores (eating their prey and their prey's undigested veggies)!
