Description

This is my first entry in the Bryce Gallery, so go easy on me--half a dozen errors are sticking out of the final render like sore thumbs! (Why couldn't I see 'em before?!) Many modelers contributed to this image: The truly fabulous fantasy gothic balloons from Mecom4D sparked the idea, but I was unable to figure out how to get pict textures to work on them--my apologies to their author! A hot air balloon and the Alien Home are by Fast Traxx--I love 'em and plan to use them again. That nice pier is by AtomicAnvil and another balloon is by Mike Kuykendall. The amazing Hatshepsut's boat is by amazing Helmut Schaub! The figures in the gothic balloon are by Baument, but I'm afraid I can't locate the readme's on the temples or the lighthouse tower. I apologize.

Patricia, The pointed tower in the lower right looks like the description of the Lighthouse at Alexandria. Your temple looks like a scaled down version of the remains of the Parthanon. due to the scale it's hard to tell, but it looks like you even used Doric columns. In the critias plato describes a scene that I imagine looked something like this. The hot air baloons have been hypothesized by more than one theorist. Very good attention to detail and "historical" record. If I had to find something negative it would be that the land masses appear a little to blocky, but that's ok because that's somewhat the way Plato described them. If I had had a chance to vote on your render in the Atlantis Challenge, I would have voted for it. Very nice work. I only gave you an eight as I didn't want to give you a "big head" and I couldn't see any volcanoes (or bears). Keep at it - you've got alot of talent. - TJ

This may be your first entry into the Bryce gallery but it obviously is not your first work in Bryce. This is very good. You have a good eye for the setting up the scene. Great point-of-view, nice atmosphere, lots of activity going on! A very complex image for your first submission.

This really should have had top billing in the Bryce Forum July Challenge (Atlantis) It didn't and that's a shame. It's a wonderfully imaginative view and camera angle. I wish I could get my atmospheres to look this good. KUTGW The Bryster

Very nice render! Lovely setting. Only thing I see that could use improving are the shadows.

I think this is a wonderful piece of work Patricia. Love the angle you have chosen to use and the cityscape looks great. Well done. ---- Scott.

Excellent work. I love seeing new spins on things. Two comments:

  1. I'd go with a little less haze or maybe change it's color.
  2. I'd smooth and texture your upper left pair of baloons since you did it on the others. Again, Great Work!

Thank you all for taking the time to view and comment. I really appreciate it. And the critique will help me alot---I kinda bit off more than I could chew with this image! zescanner, I got Bryce 1 many years ago and was fascinated enough that I also got 2, but paint + canvas art took up nearly all my time. Bought Bryce 3D just before I burned out on art altogether and quit. 7 years later (this January) I picked it up again, found 'Rosity and Poser and now I guess I'm an artist again.... S0oooo much to learn!

The Artist inside is a constant, now it's just a matter of getting a feel for the new "pallet, oils & canvas. Wonderful piece of work.

Great scene with much attention to detail. I agree with JCM. Can't wait to see more works from you...

Nicely done. Good details and overall scene. You should really learn more about jpg compression, though. A picture this size can/should be compressed to around 120 kb with no appreciable loss of detail. Big files are too slow to load, especially with a dialup connection.

I think detailed 3d scenes are the greatest. This is cool!
