UPDATED:Â September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
Â
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
Â
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
Â
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Â
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Excellent capture, Bill; I think you need a wider angle lens to get all of the wingspan in!

Great photo of this classic WW2 bird, Bill! I must go check out the links! Great post, my friend!

Its back looks safe and sound all right, but its front is a completely different matter! I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end! Thanks for the links - the fly by shows what a fast bugger this plane was. No wonder the air war over Europe was so fierce and bomber losses so great! Now, how do I get to fly and own an Me109? That would be cool. Or, a P51 Mustang? Also cool. One great thing I appreciate here is seeing the paint job clearly in sunlight (no fluorescent lights or bulbs). I wonder how this scheme made it harder to see the plane. Good photo. Keep it up! :-)

Beautiful plane and nice colors :)

great image! :)

Neat shot - I was SUPPOSED to be there ... I had a room reserved at the south end of the airport ... oh, well. Great shot. Notice how the angle of the forward edge of the canopy is narrower than the angle of the aft edge of the windscreen, the canopy rails (and fuselage, for that matter) taper back to the tail causing the canopy base to pinch together while opening. The short "frame" over the pilot's head on top of the canopy is actually a hinge. There is some dispute over the accuracy of the colors (I'm in the camp that they got it slightly wrong) but it's a darn cool plane none the less. And it's not simply flying on AN original BMW, but THE original BMW (that just blows my mind, MAN - lol). PS That's pilot Steve Hinton in the green flight suit.

In answer to Tara's comment..They're all stood there saying "yeh! this is were Tara would stand, and shoot a real close up of the exhaust manifold and no-one would know what the hell it was" :-) Brilliant post Bill, Instafave of course....
