Description
This is in the Verde Valley, Arizona where Southern Sinagua farmers began building this five storey, twenty room dwelling early in the 1100's. It stands in a cliff recess about 100 feet (approx 30 m) above the valley. Early settlers marveled at the structure and thought it was of Aztec origin hence the name Montezuma Castle. Just behind me there is a river and fertile land.
Have a good Sunday. Jeff.

Excellent capture Jeff and these types of building are all over our South West regions. Many were destroyed while relic collectors tore down walls looking for clay pots and arrow heads. Dana

Excellent capture! It's an amazing place with a lot of unanswered questions as to why they did this. :)

I loved this place. What a wonderful setting! I could easily imagine life there. The river is beautiful. We were there in April, so everything was green and lovely. It would have been fun if we'd been there at the same time! :)

No place for the kids to go out and play...unless mom took them down to the meadow...which was probably dad's farm fields back then. Well done Jeff.
