My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Ok, I'm pondering. Looks like a nice pair of work boots but where did the guy go? Did he finish the job and think 'I'm done', take off the boots and go home? BTW, congratulations to you and Bill for making the gallery. Y'all got a two-fer. Very cool.

Great composition, it does lead to many questions... You have a most keen photographic eye!

I never saw them. Certainly not through the fireplace:) Why would a man leave his shoes? Ah, newly finished hardwood floors is the reason. I'm with Denise...there's your eye seeking out the unusual and then your question to open the door to let imagination flow. Well done:*

When I saw the photo I came to think of Bill, having taken them off after a long day chasing photos, and winding up with a motif below his nose, and you beating him to the punch! :) You've shown us some photos of this house a long time ago (like the bedroom with its view). You must have some more interesting photos from it. Care to show us more? :-)

when I come to your gallery I realize that I don't 'dare' with the camera at all, I really stick close to the vest. (I don't know why, but I've never, ever brought my paintings into my photography.) But you find shots that juxtapose & question & jostle & delight, and leave one wondering how many worlds they've just seen. And that doesn't eve touch-upon the actual boots themselves. I still can't figure out what's going on in the foreground---that brownish rectangle coming down from the top: What IS that? I know there's probably an easy explanation for it, but it's part of what you do with the camera, because that rectangle could be the door-opening, but it intersects in spots that would work against that; so whatever it is, it creates an enticing illusion, at least for me. (No one else? Was I the only one? This isn't looking good for me, is it...) And then there's the stuff on the mantle, looking like laid-out debris. And the dark beam on top, which could be I don't know what, though it's probably just a beam on the mirror or maybe a part of the house...Above all, there's the blast of light next to the shoes themselves, which I assume is the sun hitting a light-hued painter's cloth of some kind. A real montage of shapes & lights, and proving Denise's comment about your eye. And the actual boots: For me, they're just one part of the whole, though they do speak of a world out-of-frame, and that's another mystery you give in your shots. Wonderful sense of play, Tara, and a very enticing abstract too.

You know, in Agara, workmen leave their boots at a work-site until the job is finished, and only when everything is finished do they dare to wear their boots home. That's Agarans for you, and maybe you've got Agaran immigrants in Seattle? You never know. The weather's the same, just about--similar latitude and all. that's also why you always see neat arrangements of boots at construction sites, when no one is working, they're always kept in the boot shed that's been erected specifically for the purpose. Maybe this guy did his work for the day, caught the Number 8 train, went home, wearing the spare shoes he carried with him, and will return tomorrow to finish the job. Okay. Maybe not. But still, I rather like that story; maybe it'll work its way into something. And as for this image! Well, it's such a Tara-shot: solid, concrete, and dreamy all at once. I particularly love the light, and I agree with mark too...there is a sense of a world outside of the frame, and I love that sense of another place: somewhere, over thataway. This is fantastic!
