Description
Here's an altogether different take on the last image. This was an early test in developing a painterly watercolor illustration style from Poser render elements by overlaying a number of parchment and watercolor washes using various layer blend techniques and filters in Photoshop. None of this was actually ever painted in the real world, but was all created digitally.
The upper wall area at the top was left intentionally blank in order to accommodate the text for the Prologue section of "The Saga of Beowulf", which I was contemplating turning into a graphic novel at that point. Having already spent a good many years writing the book I decided to start a new illustrated novel project instead, so this piece was never used.
Most of the elements from the previous version were reused, although many were re-rendered from different angles. In addition to the original props, the chest from Medieval Furniture Pack was added and a second lectern from the Medieval Rooms set. There are also some more or less subtle alchemy symbols burned into the walls and floor, just to lend a slighly sinister aspect to the scene.

This has such a Medieval feel, when death was often sudden and unexplained. It gave me a shock to see the dead monk....very fine work.
