Description

Photo taken alongside the falls, in order to protect my camera I covered the camera , except for the lens, by a plastic shower cap, a trick which I have read in a magazine, and works very well …… the shower cap I had taken from a Hotel, I have always a few with me when travelling!!! The falls are surrounded by blue sky, however the mist formed by the falls you can see at miles distance. Due to the huge amount of rain during the rainy season in the area, the water level was still very high, the highest since 20 years!! We made in May 2011 a trip through the southern part of Africa ( RSA, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia) , we did not have had one single raindrop during 1 ½ month traveling in the area, however we had our part of the rain in the so called “Dutch Summer”, it is over here in The Netherland such a lousy summer, we have had the wettest summer since 1906. he he, we have the same trick (plastic shower cap)... mine are coming mostly from Zoete Inval in Haarlemmerliede !! ;-) Impressive panoramic view here, Henk; thanks for sharing these beautiful images from your African trip ! Yes, the famous Mosi O Tunya falls. I had the great privilege to visit these about 20 years ago. So majestic, so beautiful and so powerful. I just came back from visiting Niagara Falls in the US - Canada border and I also used the bag trick. I even got on the little boat that goes right next to the falls and the camera survived. Thanks for sharing and bringing wonderful memories!
