Hello !
My name is Helle. I live in Denmark on the Island, Zealand. I have a husband and two sons and three grandchildren, so I am a happy person.
I like many kinds of art and I try to limit myself, but I dont succeed very well. I love my PSP9 and I think I use it every day. I like to draw, paint and experiment on canvas or paper and I wish I had time do it every day. My biggest wish is, that there would be 48 hours instead of the poor 24 a day. I just dont think it will ever happen ;)
A fantastic new world opened for me, when I was Introduced to Renderosity for the first time. I am very grateful to be a part if this site.

It is SUPER! and I'm not at all surprised by her choice. (I never though Van Gogh's sunflowers that special myself, he made lots much more exciting pics....)

I think it is wonderful Helle, and the blending of colors here is superb.

Oh Helle. This picture was just perfect before, and it's just perfect now! (And I'm pretty sure it was blue in one of the first versions, before you settled on the tan background from the last one! LOL!) You are so funny. I'm glad your neighbor is buying it from you ... that way you will have to stop changing it! :P I can just see you sneaking into her house in the middle of the night, re-painting the background one more time. Poor woman will think she's losing her mind. "Wasn't that painting blue ... ?? ... no ... I must be dreaming." All the while you're next door, washing out your brushes again, humming a little Danish song. :D

lol, tara's comment on you sneaking into the buyer's house & changing the colors in the middle of the night...every artist's dream! (Ie, knocking on the door & saying: "Excuse me---ya know that painting you bought from me? It needs more red! Would you mind if I....." (Yes!) (I'd love to see Monet running into the Museum of Modern Art in New York, 5 minutes before closing, and shouting: "Wait! Those water lilies need more blue---this won't take more than a minute!" I too loved the lighter version of this, but I love this one as much. You made wise choices, Helle: The blue sets off the yellow more, you shortened many petals, you gave more activity to the vase (love the sense of another life down there), the leaves have more definition & you added more yellow to them (to harmonize with the petals), and of course the blue itself is very peaceful. I understand Andrea's thoughts about van Gogh---though I personally love his sunflowers because they explode into the frame, and because he's crazy enough to use those jaundiced yellow backgrounds & give them life via his explosive brushwork. But while you have some van Gogh here (who in the Western world can paint sunflowers without at least thinking of van Gogh?), you also have a wonderful move from orange in the centers to the yellows of the outer petals, and a quietude & peace overall. Very bold & beautiful, and I bet it's wonderful to see in person.

What fun Tara's and Mark's comments are! Beautiful painting! I like both versions. On the whole I like this version better. I do like the more irregular shape of the shadows in the first one. But on this one I like the greater definition of the leaves, the rounder shape and greater reflectivity of the vase, the area where the shadow of the leaf is on the vase, and the bit of reflected blue on the table. The vase 'sits' on the table wonderfully well here. I like both backgrounds, but I think the blue one has more depth. I like the greater distance between the lowest flower and the tabletop. Superb painting! I like it a lot!
