Description
A street shot in La Laguna. The nun smiled to me just after that,I suppose she was surprised to be the subject of a photo, but she looked smug nonetheless.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna (commonly known as La Laguna) is a city and municipality in the northern part of the island of Tenerife. The city was the ancient capital of the Canary Islands. La Laguna is physically part of the city of Santa Cruz, as both cities and municipalities, form a single large urban center. The balconies as the one you can see here are usually made of Pinus canariensis, the Canary Island Pine, a species in the genus Pinus, family Pinaceae, native and endemic to the outer Canary Islands.
Thanks for your kind comments.

Sandra, first of all let me say what a fascinating capture this one is. Thank you so much for sharing these images from beautiful locations from around the world. It is only through you that many of us have the chance to see such lovely sites, and the detailed descriptions you provide further serve to transport us there with you if only for a moment. This place is a colorful treat for the eye, and including the Nun in the photo as the focal point was a very nice idea.

Wonderful photo Sanrda. The balconies are beautiful and I like the tiles in the street. Dana

A super shot Sandra, a well captured chance image. They normally walk in two's so that one nun sees that the other nun doesn't get nun!!! Lol.

Sorrido anch'io pensando che la foto che avrei voluto inserire ieri riguardava appunto una suora. Bello scatto , una bella scena di vita comune !

Aha, also a 'Nun on the run' - haha, maybe a quick get-away from more paparazzi like yourself ... I must admit those balconies are a lovely vision for me, as I recycle all old wood for renovations in my new house and make it look like a million dollars, BTW a stroke of luck - catching all of these people at the right time ... Oh I love the wonderful colour in this shot. Especially the colour of the stones in the road. And its great to see people taking the road for themselves - as it should be. A great example of city planning before we handed our urban centres over to the fickle whims of the automobile.

I like it.

I can see the nun's smugness, but knowing some nuns & monks as I do, I know some can have a feeling of being invaded even by someone just 'looking' at them. (And then, that smugness may be there for many other reasons having nothing to do with your capture, lol. I won't go there now...) But I love how she's the center of this striking and eye-popping capture, and lost in some kind of thought, as monastics will be. She's a wonderful centerpiece to this capture...And I love the angles of the building going in two directions, away from the center nun; and that saturated yellow which you captured so well. And the capture of all the trim, and the stark white on either side of the image, as contrast to the yellows etc. The nun almost has a posture of a pietà, which makes her stand out from the two modern-looking pedestrians on either side. Once again you got all those contrasts effortlessly (at least that's how it feels, whatever effort you actually expended to get it). And the image is bold and saturated, and really feels like a 'crossroads'. Wonderful iconic, and another of your fine urban shots, Sandra...

Very beautiful candid shot, love the crossroads theme, the nun looks great there, superb shot!

What movement in this shot! It's all on a diagonal...the nun moving one way (smugly?) the two young women moving another, the older gentleman roughly following the nun...and then there are the lines in the photo itself: everything converges at the front of that gorgeous building, which might explain certain nun-ish smugness...she's at the "apex" or maybe the god-node or something. The colors are so rich, so astonishingly gorgeous! You captured a fantastic scene and you did so perfectly!

Wonderful composed scene and capture! Fine contrast between the nun and the two women left! :o)
