Description
When the Axis powers finally left Albania in 1944, the costumed champion known as the Red Owl hoped that he'd be able to retire and rest on his laurels, but it was not to be. Instead, the fascists were replaced by Enver Hoxha and the communists. Albania spent the next four decades under one of the most authoritarian dictatorships in European history, and Hoxha was determined to make sure that the Red Owl fell under his control. Eventually, the Red Owl took his old Fokker DVII for one last flight to Italy. But the old bird fell apart, and the plane plunged into Adriatic Sea, several miles short of the coast of Brindisi. Hoxha breathed a sigh of relief. Surely, no one could have survived such a fall...
