BIO
For around 20 years I was a professional wedding and portrait photographer winning a couple of Kodak awards but turned to landscapes about a year ago in 2005.In my wedding days I shot on a Bronica 6 x 6 format but my camera now is a Nikon D100 and I feel that digital and Photoshop opened a whole mew world to us guy's and gals. I am based in the UK moving from the south to lancashire at the end of 2005.
So its now 2009..long time since I updated my bio.
Now shoot on a Nikon D200 and process my work through Photoshop CS3.
Been to a lot of places since moving north.Three times to Scotland..going again in September 2009.
Had a week in Snowdonia..brilliant place....cant say the same for the weather we had.Ventured down to Devon...been for a week in Northumbria..had a glorious week on the North Yorkshire coast.Walked miles around the lake district in Cumbria.
Been to west Yorkshire no end of times and that's just the places I can recall.
Tried and tried to improve my photography which if any one looks thru my gallery back to the early days may agree that it has come a long way.
So many places still to see in the UK.We must have some of the loveliest places on earth to photograph here..there will never be enough time.ÂÂ

No oil needed........just virgin forest. ;) And they were also the days of Polio, Jack the Ripper, 70 million dying in WW2, and The Great Depression. Arrrgh yes, the good old days! Lovely shot BTW!

I do indeed remember those days. When I was very young my parents and I travel extensively on the train and all those smells and noise are still vivid when I look at your image.

I am a railroad man and I describe your words without a second.... It were engines like this who created my love for this... The smell of coal, smoke, hot oil and the breathe of steam at the station... And they hold their time table. Today? Babbling with cellphones from ear to ear and the promises like this "The trains xxx arrives 20 minutes later...." Great catch of this interesting scene!

i like the rich colors and the strong composition. it looks to me like you've added postwork that i find a bit heavy for a photo that still looks like it's meant to be more realistic than illustrated, but that's a minor point and i realize i could be completely off. it's an excellent piece

Lovely photo, and narrative. When I was a child, we rode across America, from New York to Los Angeles aboard a train. I still have happy thoughts about it.:)

I do so love the vibrancy of the green foliage, the reflection on the black metal and the lovely contrast with the bit of red thown in. The steam is so strange here - looks like it was done up different from the rest of the work... quite striking actually.
