Description

Mixing fluffy and dark for my friend Angel (Savage-dragon). Take care of yourself and take time to recover cause we need you around this place. :) Character is Margot's new girl - MSTene's Marici at Runtime DNA. She is such a lovely one, and her makeups range from soft to strong. I used a few options to make her a goth girl here. link: http://www.runtimedna.com/Mst-Marici-v4.html The butterflies are from a freebie on Deviant art. They are PNGs http://shoofly-stock.deviantart.com/ The great backdrop is from Jenny and Chucks latest package Femme Fatale. I adore Jenny's backgrounds more than any other I've ever worked with. The shadow under the character was easy to do and I'm gonna share the secret. On the layer of your character, select around the character using the magic wand tool - most graphic editors have those. Then reverse/invert the selection to where it selects inside the character. Make a new layer underneath the character and then fill it with a very dark, not quite black color. Then with the shadow still selected move it downwards a bit and transform it for scale, rotation, and finally distort it so that it is angled away. Play with the opacity to get what you like. I did the same with the butterfly layer too. I see a lot of characters on backgrounds like this and they have no shadow and I wanted to show that you can do one and not spend hours painting one in. :) On a personal note, I have been working now 7 days in a row and moving last week to a new place. It has washer dryer hookups, so very fantastic - no laundry room. I am however going to start looking for a new job, this one is kinda killing my soul and taking all my time and energy. I got a tip for another place, so keep your fingers crossed for me! Again. :)

You know I love goth. This is just perfect & made my day after a night with amazing thunderstorms & bucket duty. Lol. It was wild. I prayed & called out & the sky parted! Well, the clouds did. The storm raged all around me for as far as the eye could see, but above me, stars. Wow! Freaked me out big time. No leaks! Life is way too cool to kick it now. Thanks so much, girlfriend! Love it!! Big squashing hugz. ")

A beautiful gothic work, Delaney! I love her dance pose, and of couse now, I'm gonna have to find the Saint-Saƫns composition and play it! :-D I've used that shadow technique many times - sure is a time saver.. I usually set the shadow layer to multiply, also, and give it just a tiny touch of gaussian blur. You absolutely nailed the angle of the shadow for the lighting! I can certainly relate to your situation, my dear friend. I'd love to find something else, but I've been with this company long enough that I now get 3 weeks of vacation, and the pay and benefits are very, very good. I do hope you're able to find something better!

Oh! There's no framing this time! I was squeezing my brain to find out what's different with this render in comparison to your other work - and I have finally found it out! :) This scene is so cool, the mood made by the lights and Jenny's amazing background is so special, together with your goth girl and her whimsical play with the butterflies... A beautiful render and a very special dedi! Vashek
