Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I love sunflowers, the bigger and more showy the better, so this is a spectacular gift, Marilyn, thank you so very much! Great work!

Super clarity, color and backlighting in this stellar birthday tribute to our dear friend, Denise! It appears the sunflower is in its waning days, and hanging on for dear life. And, don't forget to visit my birthday dedication to MrsRatbag, posted on September 11.

a stunning capture of a single flower, lit as if from within, and a beautiful gift for Denise, who I see loves it as well. The flower itself is a weathered creature, it doesn't give a hoot who sees; it's ruffled, bent in spots, spotted, and it has just a slight scowl...but it's proud as it gets, on fire around the edges, and your background is perfect, as is the inclusion of some of the foliage in the foreground. Flaming & alive, it's beautiful. You didn't need postwork on this, you captured the light & form with fire. Love the shot...Happy birthday, Denise, and many many more!

This is a gorgeous birthday dedication to a lovely, talented lady! And to top it off, it's simply stunning. I love watching sunflowers swaying in the wind; it always looks like they're doing some kind of vegetative rendition of the Dance of the Seven Veils or something like that. It has your touch too; you always capture sunlight (and water, of course) in the right ways, and I love that the light is actually shining through the important parts of this flower rather than just on it, like a floodlight with nothing better to do. I think it's the pattern of the light going thought the petals that really draws me in. I like the way it feels when I see it, and yellow is such a nice color; it's highly underrated, I think.
