Description
This is the first of a series of pictures I took in La Laguna, when people were starting to gather fot the feast of St. Benito. Actually the celebration includes a number of events lasting a week, with the final day (Sunday afternoon) ending with a meeting in a square and people celebrating with costumes and music. But this young girl seemed annoyed by her mom's fussing.

Great candid photo, Sandra! The little girl probably wouldn't think so though as it puts her in a bad light. But it shows one side of a mother's concern that her child look her best for the festival! Fantastic!!!

reminds me utes godchild,a few years ago when she had the catholic first communion, her mother was fussing around, stupid parents want her kids to be the best looking just to say my daughter/son was best looking regardless of the feelings of the kid. when the goddaughter was later in her normal clothes and had her hair loose again she had a more satisfield look on her face than before. hey and what about the parents who send her kids to university even if the kid dont want to study??but sounds good in front of the neighbours when you say my kid is at university. bs... people.

This is spectacular and the little girl is quite dramatic! Ah, moms fussing! That's a universal constant, but it makes for such wonderful shots like this. I love the sense of color, especially the brilliant Coka-Cola reds in conjunction with those rich, sumptuous yellows! This is brilliantly seen! I wish we had feasts in these here United States...we do, but they're not like this...they usually involve boring conversations around a dinner table and then all of the men going to watch sports on TV. I much prefer various European traditions, complete with fussy moms, recalcitrant children, and really good food, music, drinking, and more music!
