Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

I realize this is from last fall, but since I commented on another shot from this location, I wanted to comment on this. First, I never knew the meaning of Itasca; it sounded Native American to me & I'd have never guessed it was a contraction of Latin words. And even more, I'd have never guessed---from the expansiveness of these shots---that this was the source of the Mississippi. I've been there---many years ago---and I don't remember it being this expansive or this beautiful. But of course that's the result of your eye as much as of the place itself. For me, it's first about the silvery expanse of soft distant trees, and their reflection in the waters. But then we step back and see the framing of the growth & brush, its messiness and cragginess (I realize there are no craggy rocks in this shot, but the brush feels craggy because of its brittle and angular forms). (I just looked up "crag"---it's a steep cliff or rocky face. Who knew!) And, hidden in this, is an actual ridge, which if we look closely enough, we'll see wending its way along the water. A quiet revelation...Again, no apologies on your part for intrusion or the overflow of nature; and the tones are clear and beautiful, and the sense of smooth sky and water are beautiful, along with the intensified light on top & bottom of the distant shore. Subtle & beautiful...a wholly caressed image.
