WOW! I love old, rusting, abandoned machinery; there's something particularly poetic in that stuff. It's odd how machinery, once it's unused and unusable seems more natural and organic. I think it's because machines are an extension of humanity, despite the human habit of distancing itself from quite a number of its creations. As extensions of humanity, machines are natural...they're born (created) they live (function) and they die. Ah, but any created thing matches its creator in those sorts of fundamental ways. I see that whenever I see images like this, or whenever I wander around places with abandoned machinery and dead purpose. As for this photo, I love the shapes, the colors, and the way in which my mind naturally wanders, creating a number of purposes for this cryptic piece of diesel-powered...something. I love the rust patterns, the colors, the subtle byplay of light and shadow. All-in-all, this is a superb image, and it's making a quick trip into my Favorites file. Brilliant work. Excellently seen and presented.
