Description
I met this gentleman and his dog going to the feast along the main street in La Laguna. The street is for pedestrians only and it was covered with shavings because there were carts drawn by oxen brought from the countryside. As you can see the costume of the man and the doggie is a modern interpretation of the Canarian peasants' costume in the 18th-19th centuries.

just wonderful how you find these moments. It's been said that once one trains the eye, it will find what it previously didn't find...your eye is beautifully trained, from your years as an anthropologist and your long experience with the lens. The colors, as with the last shot, are wonderfully vivid, more of these saturated oranges & whites & reds & yellows. The tilt of the shot brings the man into focus---who is captured with eye popping hues as well. And he, in relation to the monkey, make a terrific contrast with the people walking behind---who themselves are contrasts, some in costume, some in normal clothing. All topped by a saturated white sky. These shots explode from the frame and they are filled with vitality & humor. I look forward to more of this series.
