Description

Wanting to learn the art of digital rendering and have noticed that no matter the software it seems every artist has a photoshop program in the works. So as my first baby step I have bitten the bullet and purchased CS5 extended. Now for the big question, is there a CS5 for dummies book out there...lol! Some of the terminology, which would be basic for someone else is, lost on me. Even just a glossary would be a help. :~) The CS5 live and other video tutorials seen so far are not specific to my inquiries nor do I find some of these easy to follow. The mist blowing off the top of El Capitan wafted all around, and the camera picked up all that fine mist as noise throughout the image. Managed to remove a lot of that noise playing around with the filters. Toyed a bit with adding a watermark, don't know if I like doing that as I find them a nuisance. This is a Partial shot of El Capitan. To see in it's entirety, including this small unnamed waterfall click here. thumb_2049099.jpg

Don't waste your money on a book! Everything I have learned so far about Photoshop has been from other folk either on this site (Mainly auntietk) or first hand with a friend standing over me. The books are written by geeks who have NO idea of how little we real people already know.

A note if you look at El capitan in it's entirety. The fall is located on the far right, easier to see in full view ;~)

Wonderful capture! This site and possibly dA would be the two best for getting information on how to do things

Oh, this looks so lovely. At first sight I thought it was sand blowing up by the wind. I'm a lay-woman with photo shop ;-)

dude cs5 rawks--you'll love it as I do...I agree with Feliciti in regards to learning by doing. I often do this and actually discover and modify techniques and methods not shown in books and tutorials. When I get stumped I usually turn towards youtube or wiki tutorials which are extremely informative--hope that helps. Love the majestic mountain image--lovely, lovely capture...

Firstly Dana this is a super image, secondly I learn by doing and fiddling. If you copy your picture and fiddle with that, you have still retained the original. Good luck.

Sad to admit but I learned of this mountain first from Grand Turismo and secondly from Ansel Adams! One day I must see her for myself, very nice shot Dana! Martin

What a beautiful capture, this is superb. There are a lot of books about Photoshop which eventually tell you that you need and use only 20% of its features and that Photo filtre is what an amateur needs ! But I too have Photoshop !!!
