Description
Over the years I have taken a lot of crappy pictures. I finally bit the bullet and have started learning some of the capabilities of Photoshop. The following image was taken during my first year as a photographer and I made all sorts of mistakes. As an example, the main figure had a tree growing out of the top of his head. I thought I'd have some fun with this picture. I took the tree off his head, lightened the background, did some retouching and gave the gentleman a nice healthy glow.

It is nice to be able to restore, or reclaim a damaged, or bad picture with Photoshop. I don't know what I'd do without it, at times.

Very impressive work, Mark He appears to be the leader, spiritual and otherwise of the people behind him.

You have made his aura visible! When we were at Art school, a friend of mine told his doctor he could see the auras round folk, an attribute perfectly acceptable in the East. He was deemed in need of medication and electric-shock treatment which has taken a severe toll in old age. I kept very quiet about the fact that I shared this ability, sadly since lost.

I loved playing with Photoshop when I had it...I rely on the Gimp now, but I plan on re-purchasing Photoshop. Now, as for this picture, it's fantastic and I first thought that this gentleman was a Russian Orthodox priest. Is he? At any rate, this is a wonderful photo and I do rather like the glow. Great work.

Well done for finding out how to improve on what you thought was wrong with your picture. That is how I started because I looked at the galleries here and thought my photos were not good enough, so taught myself on PS 6.0 and just progressed from there, (now have PS CS4)promising myself I would learn something new each day, and I do. Within PS there are so many things to do, and always so many ways of creating the same result. I love your photo, it is intriguing and sort of spiritual too now the gent has a glow surrounding him. hugs Jane xx

I attended once a Greek Wedding and this gentlemen reminds me so much of the Greek Orthodox priest, who gave the young couple his blessings. (I wonder, whether that ever worked?) I am also glad, there is no visible tree growing anymore, but the roots (in this case the beard) are still showing ;-) BB PS I had to laugh at your comment for Sarah Bernhardt/Heartburn! ~thanks~

This is very cool and full of atmosphere. It looks like the poster for a movie. A gathering and a myriad of characters that flit through each other's lives, while a mysterious priest, perhaps a ghost, observes and sometimes connects in a beneficial way. "Who was that bearded figure?" I got CS5 recently and it is a wonder. Have you processed in camera raw yet? I did for the first time last Sunday, though I haven't posted anything yet. It's pretty amazing. I had so much fun, I think that is why my laptop is a bit surly now.
