My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Yup, I'd know this place anywhere! Great shot, it gives a good idea of the magnitude of the landscape...love that streak of red!

Great painterly postwork, would not have guessed this started life as a photo...

Absolutely lovely! The fact that we can't find it only makes it more precious!

Beautiful panorama shot, I love all the warm colours- thanks for sharing! :)

Yes, excellent directions to get to this beautiful place.... Super colouring you have captured in this shot and I love windmills.

I love the horizontal line of the back round and a pastel water color look Of this wonderful shot.

Oh, yes, yes, I KNOW this place! You turn left at the Taco Bell... Actually, I've never been to either of the Dakotas. I have been through the Texas Panhandle and New Mexico, however, so I get the gist. This is a gorgeous shot, and so evocative of that part of the country, and America itself. All that wide open space! Are those part of the Black Hills in the background? Love this shot! Happy(belated) anniversary! Looking forward to seeing you guys soon.

"Now somewhere in the Black Mountain Hills of Dakota There lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon..." Yeah, I think I recognize that windmill, especially with those excellent directions LOL>

A fantastic catch. It looks a bit like a painting. I like the horizontal landscape and muted colors broken by the windmill.
awjay
superb composition

Great landscape, nice lighting.

So painterly! The colours are very rich. I keep a little map of the USA handy, so had a peep at where South Dakota is. A mind boggling journey..

Obviously, nowhere is quite nice ! :))

You captured the classic Aermotor windmill...one of the most popular farm windmills ever made. I just read that 2011 is the 156th Anniversary of the first commercially successful, self-controlled windmill in America. Oh...about the photography:) A beautiful, downhome piece of Americana.
jocko500
I like this image.

wide open spaces for sure--love your postwork as well!!

What an astounding shot! This is really fantastically super! I love the colors, the openness, the absolute heaviosity of that pseudo-sky: or is it the sky...I suspect it's land kinda going up in a hilly bit, the flatness of the foreground land is such a contrast to the grayness (well, I'm tired if flat land, I want bumpy land, with snow way up on top, or at least a forest sloping down like a tired amoeba letting gravity do its job...but anyway...) What an image! This is really superior work. And as for the directions you gave: yep...they're as clear as crystal. Who needs GPS with directions like that? This is gorgeous!
debbielove
Yep!!! That will work.. I'll find it with those directions, no probs!! ;-) Looks like South Dak to me as well.. Great shot, Super cropping.. Well done Tara! Rob

Excellent POV, Tara! I really like the way you've captured this... it seems like an endless region, full of flat lands and beauty.... just incredible colours as well! I like that lonely looking windmill all by itself... a wonderful atmosphere!
