Description

We stopped yesterday in Wallace, Idaho, rather on the spur of the moment. Driving down I-90, we looked to our right and our jaws dropped. What an amazing town! We just HAD to stop and take pictures. Every single building in downtown Wallace is on the National Register of Historic Places. All of 'em. Wow. There was no way I could take pictures of everything, but I did take about 225 photos there. (I might make you look at about 200 of them! LOL! What a cool place!) This is a reflection in a second-story window. You'll notice the glass is original. Nothing modern has ripples like that! I went nuts. :D What fun!

Well I took a look at the Wallace, Idaho web site and now I'm excited. The downtown area is a treasure trove of vintage buildings. A terrific image showing some wonderful distorted reflections in the window.

Oh, there need to be buildings on any historical registers there happen to be: National, local, interdimensional, you name it. I love the glass in this shot as well as the bricks. They don't make 'em like that any more. I can't exactly tell you how I know that they're old, but they have a kind of oldness patina on them; kinda like a natural grunge filter. I love those reflections and the ripples: I happen to love rippled glass, and though I haven't seen much of it, I really love rippled glass with bubbles in it. This is a superb shot and I look forward to as many more as you can stand uploading!

Nuts is FUN!!! My living room window used to have original rippled glass. Really pretty, but not very practical when living with a little boy. (I never did really find out how that hole got in the window!! lol) I digress as usual. I'm surprised you ever got out of that town--or are you still there??

This reflections makes an outstanding composition and design. Could be a modern painting, or a fractal. What a special shot this makes, Tara! And there seems to be something to celebrate with you and Bill, so I congratulate you both, although I'm not sure why. ;-) But actually in a marriage so long, everyday there's something to celebrate, if you're still together, right? Have a great trip.

Age...age is beautiful. But I never saw this particular window because I must have been wrapped up in 40 more on the other side of the street! What an amazing place. Your photo says it all in light and glass once again. Antique glass this time...wow! Can't wait to see more.

There used to be old buildings with "dripping" glass windows here, before the city in all it's infinite wisdom tore a lot of them down. This is a great shot of something you don't see everyday...at least not in America. Of course if you lived in Wallace you would be seeing it everyday...in America. But there I go overthinking things again.Looking forward to seeing more of this town. Great title by the way.
