Description

Closer to home ... this is from the first day of our trip, only a couple hours out. We stopped alongside the road just outside Leavenworth, Washington, on the Skykomish River. Although it's not sweltering hot in Kansas right now, it IS warmer than I'm used to, and this cool, clear mountain water looks pretty good to me! Of course I think the guy is pretty cute, too. :D

Nice capture of Ansel there. That water does look very inviting. Does the river do canoes or kayaks?

The stance may look awkward but I was in a "rock solid" position:) Like the clarity of the water and can virtually hear the rush of the water. Well done.

Now this is a Ninja shot...I mean, look at that pose: it's dancing crane with one leg singing quite a difficult pose that takes decades of practice. At least that's what the ancient Ninja Photographer, Suzuki Mitsubishi said, but I'm more of a student of the Shao-lin Two-Stomach method myself...it favors slopes more than horizontals and works quite well, I must say, even though I do miss the leg motions. Now as for this shot: I'm wondering if you utilized the somewhat rare Singing Dragon stance: I read about that in one of those older Ninja Photographer books, but I can't remember who it's by. Isuzu Honda, I think, or Midori Saki...I can't remember...and did you know that Midor Sake means "Green Saki." And I have no idea what any of that has to do with anything, other than an odd riff on the Ninja Photographer theme. As for this shot, which is what I'm supposed to be commenting on, I'll say that this is utterly brilliant. There's a book, Metamagical Themas which is totally brilliant. A bit dated now, but still it's wonderful. There's a whole section in it about recursion and self-reference, and because of that I always find myself looking for either recursive or self-referential stuff in art, and this is so perfectly in synch with that...a photograph of a photographer photographing a photograph...which reminds me of something Flip Wilson's character "Geraldene" declared about love, which is: That feelin' you feel when you're about to feel a feelin' that you ain't never felt before....isn't recursion fun!? I love this photo and the wild trip my mind just went on, and yeah...I hear that this weekend is supposed to be a lot better than today...today wasn't so bad, but it got wet again! Later in the week, Chicago weather should be in a more cooperative mood! This is great!

Hehe - well it's good seeing this photo for the second time today! LOL! Good to see Bill wasn't in as precarious a position as he looks like he's in! I'll bet that water is cold! It was soooooo much fun seeing you guys today - and my new pal Mandy, too! :-D

This is a fantastic shot of a photographer taking a picture of a wonderful scene, but this candid image makes it far more interesting than if it was just an image of a river. Of course, you know this. :c) That is a wonderful scene of the river, though.

Chip's ramble has set me giggling! I just love this pic and what with the adorable bloke and the enticing little shallow bit to dip ones toe in at the very edge it's a favourite to savour again at some time.

A great image.... Love the ripples over the rocks.. In spots it looks so clear And esp like seeing a photographer take a pic of a photographer and him taking the same pic but in a different spot.. Excellent like killing a bird with 2 stones...that old saying ya know Hugs Susan~

Very cool photo, the river looks beautiful, and the added bonus of capturing a photographer deeply engrossed in his work is a super bonus. Of course, being me, you just know I'd have a hard time resisting building some kind of improbable configuration out of all those rocks =) Lovely photo, wish I'd been paying attention when you posted it!
