What a perfect image showing the amazing power of water. I had read about Lake Missoula and the Scablands but never seen an example of the event. Thanks for the link.

Ah, I remember us talking about this one! :-D Still a spectacular photo, Tara! And an amazing thing to think about all that water roaring over that drop.. It must have literally shaken the ground!

Well I went straight to the link and GOSH! what an amazing read that is! Your photo is wonderful and the explanation enhances it. I did Geography 'A'level a couple of years before they explained this. We didn't even have colour photos in our text books.

Excellent! I remember going camping there at Sun Lakes State Park when there actually WAS a waterfall, before it dried up!

A super capture of this interesting place. It would have been a very impressive sight when the falls were running. As you appear to be very high up to take this photo it seems like it must be a huge basin. Amazing.

This is one of those shots that happens to be absolutely incredible all by itself, and as I look at it again at Corey's place, I get the feeling that I'm seeing it from the 14th floor. Hmmmm...I wonder why that would be? Oh, yeah, I remember now. I was on the 14th floor seeing this on your monitor screen, and having a fantastic time. I hear New York accents in the background and automotive talk! What a weekend! What a shot! This is most definitely a favorite!

Great capture Tara. I trusted you and klicked. Interesting geological past. I wonder how many geologist researched this and in the process wrote their thesis or dissertation and got their Masters and/or PhDs.
