Description
Taken just a few minutes ago. Late summer berries & flowers growing near 1 of the trailheads of the 223 mile Ouachita (pronounced Wash-a-taw) Trail, which runs from Oklahoma's Talimena State Park to Arkansas' Pinnacle Mountain State Park. This trailhead is down the street from us & Pinnacle Mountain is down the road.
I originally thought the sumac seedheads were solid, having only seen them from a distance; when I got up close the other day, I discovered they are clusters of small red to red-brown berries, about 1mm in diameter each.
