Description

Porzana carolina. Found at Sweetwater Wetlands, southern Arizona, USA, yesterday. These are wading birds, and they are VERY shy. I would often hear one (they have a distinctive call), but since they hide in the reeds, I had never seen one. Sora was one of my nemesis birds. I first saw one at Whitewater Draw, but it was only a fleeting glance. Another birder told me where to find this one, and I took 118 pictures of him! For those of you who are unaware, a nemesis bird is one you look for, for months or years, but never seem to find.
