Description

Ultra Fractal 5.04, with twenty-one layers used (no post work). Josef Albers was a senior member of staff at the Bauhaus in 1929 when this was created by sandblasting on flashed glass. A number of versions were made after he had decided on the linked proportions of the three windows. This picture may well have been exhibited in Zurich alongside works of fellow Bauhaus masters, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. In late 1933 Albers began his famous teaching career in America, at the Black Mountain College, North Carolina where he was based for the next sixteen years. Try zooming and isolating the image for a more concentrated study, for these guys where at the cutting edge in their day This picture was primarily attempted in UF as a lesson in learning through copying.
