In Darklight, in the towers of Castle Wargstein, Nocticula does not rule alone. Her most faithful friend, Her truest lover, is also Her darkest, most vile enemy. For Claudia is a vile, backstabbing, duplicitous succubus, interested only in herself and her own power.

No one, not even Queen Nocticula Herself, knows where Duchess Claudia came from. It is rumored she was a noble woman of the old Prussak kingdom in ages past, perhaps one of the first vampires. What is known for sure is that she sought pleasure and eternal beauty when she lived. She also sought a way to avoid death’s inevitable touch. And through her ambition and dominance of all around her, she became one of the first of the Crimson Sisterhood. It is possible she actually founded the Sisterhood, though there is no explanation of how that fits in with her being from Prussak, when the majority of the Sisterhood now resides in Viridia. But if she did, indeed, come from centuries before, she may have gained her vampiric and demonic powers long enough ago to have traveled the whole world a dozen times over by now, spreading her hatred, her sadism, and her knowledge of inflicting pain.

As she is, not only does she share Nocticula’s bed more than any other, but she serves as the Queen of Darklight’s personal torturer and executioner. When we face her, do not let her touch you with her weapons. The slightest touch will cause immediate and unbearable pain. And to this end, Miri, its time I taught you a new spell. For the only way to handle the pain of the Agiel is to be truly Heartless.
