Description

For a while, I'm going to post some images from closer to home, starting with the Hill Country in the heart of Texas. The Hill Country is a area that stretches from just north of Austin, Texas (the state capital), down to San Antonio, and west about 200 miles (322 kilometers). It is a beautiful area with a lot to see. It has rolling hills, wildflowers (especially in good rain years), caves, cattle ranches (suffering under the current drought), vineyards, great state parks, historical sites and a rich cultural heritage. In 2010, we had a wet winter and a glorious spring. As often as I could, I took off and drove around the Hill Country, looking for wildflowers (and finding lots of them) and just enjoying the beauty of the area. This was taken about 100 miles (161 kilometers) north of San Antonio. Thanks for viewing and for previous comments and favs!

Very nice work as always on this photo Lucinda, you have such a knack for finding the most beautiful areas around you and then presenting them in a most wonderful way. This area really has a special place for me as it reminds me a lot of an area on my Grandparents old farm that we used to play near when we were kids.

It's beautiful. I never picture Texas looking like that for some reason. The colors are rich and beautiful and that sky is amazing. Great shot. I look forward to learning and seeing more. Excellent.

A super capture of this beautiful countryside. I was amazed when I took a closer look at there being prickly pear cactus in this amazing green area. I'm learning things about Texas that I didn't know.

This is really fantastic! Deliciously rustic! I love the colors and the drama of the shot in general! There's so much going on. It's not over-busy, but there's excitement, a plotline, relationships and nice bits of visual tension between opposites and complimentary elements of color, shape, form and all of that stuff those professional-type people go on and on about. I also like the fact that it's a glimpse into your corner of the globe. This rocks.
