Description

Here in the U.S. Hallowe'en is becoming an even bigger deal that it was when I was a kid. It was always a big deal, but the companies that make decorations and such have realized there's just as much money to make off of Hallowe'en decorating as Christmas, and they've been pulling out the stops for several years, now. I'll admit to mixed feelings on that, I love this particular holiday, partly because it's an "unofficial" holiday, which used to mean that people had to make their own stuff for it, and I always enjoy the creativity it unleashes when that happens. What pleases me is that basic creativity seems to be still there, they just have more toys to play with when they do it, so it's alot of fun to see what people will do to decorate their places. My housemate and I carved pumpkins the first weekend of October, knowing that they'll not survive until Hallowe'en, but that just means we'll have to make more (Such hardship!) I suppose. As usual I set out with no real plan in mind when I started cutting, I think that's part of the fun for me: what the heck will I do this time? I'm rather surprised how much this reminds me of a Chinese dragon/Chinese Lion face. Didn't plan on that, but I do like the result.

Very nice! It does look like a Chinese dragon, but also like flames...

That's VERY cool, Mike! I does look like a Chinese dragon, and the glow from inside makes it even more dragon-ish! Super carving, my friend! You have many talents!
