Description

It's been a while since I've done any real rockstacking. I guess that means my life has been less stressful, which is a good thing, but the downside is fewer things like this. Today we've been blessed with our third (or possibly even fourth!) day of what we in the midwest call "Indian Summer". After nearly a week of slow rains and cool to just plain cold weather we get hit with nearly a week of very nice sunny days with temperatures only about fifteen to twenty shy of body-temperatures. Naturally everyone leaps to enjoy the nice weather while we can because we all know that more rain and cold and eventually snow is bearing down on us the all the inevitability of destiny itself. People who live in climates with strong distinctive seasons know these kinds of days very well, and have vivid memories of childhood-adventures while they grasped once more at the fleeting summer that is rapidly retreating away. It also helps that the fall colors have really set in, and the warm sunny weather simply illuminates them even more for our edification. At any rate, it was far too warm to stay indoors, so my poor computer gets neglected as I play with silicon in an entirely different form. The symmetry of that is something I'd not noticed until today, but it appeals to me. I hope you all have had a good weekend, and that you enjoy this little defiance of gravity and entropy.

!!!!!!!!!Wow!!!!!!!!!! Dang, this is just amazing, Mike! You must have the patience of a saint! This is just too cool! Looking at the stack second from the right, with the big rock balanced on the tiny one...... Well, it just convinces me you're getting help from aliens... You know, the same ones that helped build the pyramids, and moved the statues around on Easter Island. wink We've been having some wonderful indian summer days here in Missouri as well. It's kinda cool and rainy today - a good day for computers and coffee!

Sweet balancing act~! =) Good to hear you are enjoying some fine weather, we are on our 2nd week of it and have another ahead to look forward to. (I also love the lower utility bills, no heat or AC on!)

Pretty neat but if I happened upon it on a bright moonlit night, I might feel a bit startled. Heh! Like what you wrote--and how you wrote it--about "Indian summer." Poignant and right on.
