Description

My roses are so delightful this spring that I almost feel poetic about it... LOL! In the spring of 2003 I planted a white rose in memory of my Mom who passed away earlier that year. Last year, for the first time, the bush produced a special rose with one pink petal. This year, it has produced another special rose with 4 pink petals. It is almost as if she is trying to tell me something! :)) Thank you for visiting my gallery and for the much appreciated comments and favs on my last upload of my canine friends! Hugs Carin xx

What a splendid rose! Lighting is fantastic! Indeed, it's strange how every year a petal becomes pink! :)

What a gorgeous picture. And what a one-track mind I must have, because the first thing I thought when I saw this shot was: "Hmmm...I could go for a strawberry milkshake right about now." Sometimes I wonder about me! I'm sure lots of people wonder about me. Well, as for this shot, I love the idea that something planted in memory of someone provides surprises. I'm not big on bouquets and stuff like that, but I adore the idea of living plants and such things, especially if there is such a thing as a memorial garden, where each rose, each blossom of something means something in terms of memories of someone! The part of me that is STILL in the Czech Republic likes that, but is careful to warn me to plant only an odd number of plants, as an even number is fit only for a funeral. I will say that I've seen roses do this before...it's like they're trying on a new set of petals before buying them. Needless to say, I always hear the voice of a woman in a store, deciding whether or not she really wants or needs that particular pair of shoes. I rather like that, and in terms of this photo by itself, without all sorts of odd Chip-associations, this is marvelous. I especially like the nice fade from green leaves to black in the background. It gives a nice spotlight effect.

Stunning clarity and a myriad of lovely lighting effects in this macro, Carin! And I hate RR's new Digest policy.

A gorgeous rose Carin and spectacular colors and contrast. You warmed my heart when you mentioned your Mom trying to contact you. I believe that could happen and the best part is that you still have those feelings for you Mom.
