Description

One from the archives of my 2010 Namibia trip. This was shot just outside Walvis Bay on the west coast of Namibia. These salt "pools" are quite common and on the other side of the dune is an actually Salt Works. I just like the color and texture contrasts. Thank you for popping in and your very welcome comments and favs on my last upload "Not just a Rose". Hugs Carin xx

What an impressing photo and landscape, Carin. Fantastic are the different textures on this image. The contrast in it, I love it, and it's also a very clear shot.

Very nice. It would have also been an interesting POV to have moved left, reveling more salty foreground and a little less sky. A fascinating landscape captured well.

What a spectacular landscape! I remember your shot of the salt works. That must be a fascinating place to visit. Your treatment of the light here is totally impressive. Gorgeous photo!

OMG, what I thought at first was an ocean of quicksilver turned out to be an ocean of salt pools, in this stunning landscape scene, Carin! Fabulous contrast between the salt pools, the distant hills, and the sky, young lady.

It appears to the viewer (moi) just like a Mirage, thinking of an Oasis of water, which could be useful after a very long camel-ride ... ah, one can dream! a very appealing composition, Carin BB

With almost no features for reference, it is hard to judge distances in a landscape such as this. Those dunes look so far off. Superb capture communicating an enormous feeling of space.

Andrew - thanks for your excellent comment and I totally agree with you. The problem that I was facing is that the 'road' is just very narrow path between these salt pans and if I moved any more to my left I would have been in the pan. Although it looks sturdy, it is actually a marsh and if you step on it, you would sink down in the yuk.... LOL... and that is not recommended... But I definitely agree that it would have been a much better pov!
