A Dutch good friend introduced me to R'osity... and now, I really feel good in this community : I enjoy a lot your friendship and comments !BIOWith a few exceptions (indicated), I'm using a simple CANON Digital IXUS i... Sometimes, I do some postwork using ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5, but I just installed Adobe PhotoShop 7.0...
But now, after having seen all these beautiful shots, I just bought (Nov 2004) myself a new camera : NIKON 70 D !
I'm a chemist, leading a small R&D team in polymers (My greatest pleasure is to stimulate creativity...) I'm also studying to become a patent attorney...
I'm living in Belgium and enjoy travelling, hiking (going out every week-end is a vital must !), reading (my French preferred authors are Marc Ly, Jean-Christophe Grang Amie Nothomb,...), music (great fan of US female voices : Jennifer Warnes, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, ...) and ... photography ! :~)
Bien cordialement aussi aux amis francophones !

Looks like they are building some kind of a nest. :) Excellent capture! Looked in both books I have on insects and the closet I found was a Garden Spider. Not an exact match on the marking but close. Most likely in that family.

This is a wonderful picture! I wonder how long their bliss lasted! :( For ID, try bugguide.net . You may have to do a bit of searching, but it's an amazing place.

Larinioides cornutus, the furrow spider, is an orb-weaver spider with Holarctic distribution. Females reach a body length of about 6–14 mm, males up to 5–9 mm. Leg spans range from 18–35 mm. These spiders are most often found in moist areas, especially near water. The web is built between grass or in low shrubbery. They hide during the day in a silken retreat that opens at the bottom, masked with plant and animal matter and leave it during the night.
