Description
Also known as a PR-600 Cold Planer.
Captured 4/15/11, early in the morning, within tramping distance of my archaic abode.
Extremely ZOOM worthy.
Why isn't there a genre for equipment? Objects isn't definitive enough.
But I digress. In preparation for resurfacing the streets, a monster like the one above is used to break up and masticate the old asphalt, then spew the contents into dump trucks in front, many of which are employed during the massive effort.
Incidentally, the restrictive splint is now off the injured finger, leaving me to type in my old carefree and unobstructed manner.
Sayonara, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

A super collage Harry and I love the smell of hot top and tar being heated. This is a great sequence.

Great to see one of these in daylight. Excellent and informative shots. I have a montage of one working in my road through the hours of darkness which I once posted here. (I have moved over 2200 pics to Flickr so it is probably there now!)

Cool shots and great dedi for Jock! Huge machine. I don't think I've ever seen one of those. I like all the views and the former road spewing out of the top.

I took to this the day it went up, and btw I was glad the splint came off, as you manage to upload & comment no matter what's going on with your body: I greatly respect that, as I don't do nearly as well. Again, your pieces demand full size, and, full size, this is a whole book. You've captured such complexity...the first two shots are marvelous interplays of machine against house & street & telephone lines, with number 2 an upload by itself (great composition). 3 gives us the beast full blown---I had no idea it was that huge. And the last two show, amazingly, that all that machinery results in a little spurt of soil! Amazing captures, more of your eye for the everyday (which, in the end, is anything but everyday), and another "wow" from your gallery. And in all my years in Chicago, I've never seen anything like this...
