Description

This is the Russian Orthodox chapel at Fort Ross. This entire fort is made from redwood. The laymen of the fort built this chapel and held Divine Liturgy services here. The chapel is still in use, as they had held a service there for the patron saint the Sunday before we were there. The flowers were still inside. Being an Orthodox Christian, visiting here had special meaning for me. For more information on the history of this Russian fort: Fort Ross State Park

what a lovely church, with a beautiful wooden architecture, as distinct from style. The landscape is also very beautiful. Thank you for the link, Charlene, now I know this is in California, I had no idea ;-).
