Description
Captured 5/8/11, at the Fullerton Arboretum, situated on the beautiful campus of the California State University Fullerton in beautiful Fullerton, California.
ZOOM worthy.
A lovely flower alongside a deteriorating lily pad makes for a cool stark contrast. Maybe I should have titled it "Beauty and the Beast."
Cheerio, thankx for stopping by, and for any and all favs and laudatory comments.

The only thing missing is a Frog or a Dragonfly sitting on the leaves ... one of my favourite flowers - the Lotus, sublime! Splendid image Harry, BB

almost like a presentation for an edible dish in a Japanese restaurant. The grouping of the lower pad with the lotus is beautiful, the contrast all the more visible from the way the pad takes up most of the lower half of the shot. The water has a sensual thick-wave feel, like some heavy molten substance, and the two pads, decayed as they are, make this a 'minimalist' composition, whose minimality you've overcome through your sensuous treatment of all surfaces. The lotus really does stand out. (If you're interested & in case you didn't know, the lotus is a symbol, in India, of the human condition, because it has roots in swampy waters but puts its petals to the 'heavens', thus, to the Hindus, a symbol of rising from the swamps & reaching for the heights, thus a human being. If I've said this before, forgive me! I never know when I'm repeating myself here. But it's an interesting thought, given how bold and sensual those petals are.) The crack in the lower lily pad is wonderful, and it shows how, closeup, these pads have such intricate character. Had to go back in the archives. Next visit, I'll come back here again. There are many I still want to comment on (including a montage of lily pads, and many others.) More beautiful work from you, Harry.
