Description

Something about the shape of the rock at the top of this stack always reminds me of birds, or perhaps fishes. The shape seems to become so dynamic when balanced like this, I always feel like it wants to be flying. Or maybe it's just dreaming of flight? Today was our second really nice day, warmer even than yesterday. It makes me glad because we've got a guest visiting us from Toronto this weekend, so it just seemed like perfect timing. It being such a nice day I just had to play with my favorite toys once again. There's an entire construct that I'll upload tomorrow, if I can remember, but this particular one just demanded it be showcased. I hope you've all had a good weekend, and thanks for taking a look!

I have yet to try this, and I will...some day! Shots like this are always so intriguing, because they do reveal so much. I suppose it's natural to think of flight when looking at the defiance of gravity, though it's actually gravity that's allowing such a form to exist. Funny how that works, but reality is nothing if not intriguing. I love the mood of this shot and the manner in which the uppermost rock also reminds me (vaguely) of an asteroid of minor planet, half-lit by sunlight and half-shaded by the perpetual night of interplanetary space. Marvelous textures and yet another wonderful balancing act. Great work, as always...

To me, for some reason, the top stone reminds me of a knuckle. Don't know why. There's a guy a couple of block away from me here in Seattle that stacks rocks like that. I often wonder what will happen to them when the earthquake comes.

It does look like it's just about ready to jump into space - maybe its just the angle, but it does seem poised for flight - even if it would be relatively short! Another cool one from the master of gravity defiance!

A good shot of this precise balancing of these rocks.
