Description
This is the resting place of Adrienne Dumont, AKA Petit Jean, who was laid to rest in the 1700's after a unique, yet tragic love story came to a premature ending.
I don't have the time here to do her story justice, but it can be found right here. It's quite an interesting story of how an elite 1700's French girl came to die on an Arkansas mountain, and asked to be buried there as well.
It was foggy last Sunday morning when Julia and I made it up to the Arkansas State Park that bears her name. Located about 25 miles west of Conway, Arkansas, Petit Jean State Park sits atop the mountain named after her as well. It is a beautiful, massive park, the first State Park designated in the state of Arkansas.
But we had many other places to visit on our fall Arkansas trip, so we only had an afternoon for Petit Jean. However, the main thing we discovered there (besides its abundant beauty) is that we must return soon!
Thanks for stopping by!
