Description

The Prickly Cycad is a very slow growing plant. They are found in South America, Africa, India, Southeast Asia and parts of Australia. This plant was in Naples, Florida and about 8 feet (2.4 meters) high. The family is botanically interesting for having survived basically unchanged for 170-180 million years. They can grow as tall as 20 feet (6 meters). They have razor sharp thorns all over the fronds. Take a closer look with zoom. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

When I saw the word Prickly it reminded me of when we went to get my computer at our daughters place Saturday. I was standing waiting to get in but, before I got in to my daughters place I backed rite into a holly shrub and let me tell you it bit me on my behind. LOL!!!!! This for sure looks like it would hurt worse. LOL!!!1 Excellent capture and details. :)))))) I am still loving all the sunshine you are sending our way. :)))) Thank you for sharing a part of FL my friend. :)))))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :)))))))

This is Beautiful! I love photos of nature where there are strong and regular patterns. Lovely lines, detail and light. I like the way the leaves curl over and the outer leaf is darker than the inner. Excellent capture and interesting information!
