Description

At Lagash the three female warriors follow Ishtar's plan and fight their way into the fortress. Nearing the throne room they lose contact with Alora. This is Alora's home and she knows a secret way into the throne room. She is determined to get to Sargon first. In the throne room Sargon is in a heated discussion with the high priestess of Akkad, his daughter Enheduanna. Enheduanna, whose mother was a Sumerian priestess, is angry with her father for destroying the Sumerian temples. She had warned him he would induce Ishtar's wrath and now it has come to pass. Now she advises him to retreat and regroup. At first Sargon refuses, but eventually Enheduanna persuades him to leave via a secret passage she has discovered. She opens the passage but it is the same one Alora knows of and she is there. She has turned herself into a cat chimera. And like a true cat she strikes at Sargon swiftly. She screams out her name and her intent to kill Sargon. Knocked to the ground Sargon is taking a terrible beating from the furious demi-god. He begs his daughter to invoke her patron God, Sin, to protect him. At first she refuses but then submits to her father's plea. This is the moment Ishtar has been waiting for, the chance to engage her brother Sin, who is Akkad's protector. She needs to defeat the Akkadian Gods. Enheduanna invokes Sin who in turn attacks Alora. But as he does so Ishtar throws two powerful energy bolts from her swords and vaporizes Sin. Alora and Sargon are now left to fight it out. Realizing he is facing defeat, Sargon at last recognizes the error of his ways and pleas to surrender. Alora refuses his request seeking revenge for the deaths of her parents. Sargon accepts the fight to the death and so it ensues. Alora manages to fatally slash Sargon but in his dying moments he in turn breaks her neck. They have mortally wounded each other. Ishtar is shocked by this turn of events. She blames herself for allowing Alora to come on the raid but the grieving Ninshubar claims responsibility for supporting Alora's request to come. Similarly Ishtar apologizes to the stricken Enheduanna, explaining she only wanted to defeat the Gods of Akkad and not kill this mighty warrior. But Enheduanna in turn claims her devotion to Ishtar (remember her mother was a Sumerian priestess) and blames herself for not being able to convince her father not to destroy Ishtar's temples. Ishtar has a faint hope plan. She has Ninshubar carry the dying Alora to the temple of the Sun God Utu. Similarly she helps Enheduanna get her father to the temple. She then quickly seeks out Utu, who is her favorite brother. She asks his help in saving these two brave warriors, who she feels have each paid the ultimate sacrifice for their beliefs and do not deserve to die. She wants to try and resurrect them before they see their reflections in Ereshkigal's eyes. For that she will need the combined strength of herself, Utu, and Sin, the God whose butt she has just burned. Together they represent the Earth, Sun,and the Moon, and with all their power they may be able to save Alora and Sargon. Utu believes he will be able to convince Sin to help, as their brother will now be looking to make amends with Ishtar. To be continued - 1 left then it begins again! Previous
